The Abtshof distillery in Magedburg has been distilling spirits since 1928. After the reauthorization of Absinthe in Germany the company began production of 'Absinthe 66' The distinctive, hand filled, apothecary bottle quickly became the best known of the German absinthes. The dominant flavour in this absinth alongside coriander, lemon balm and fennel is clearly star anise, a resemblance to the no longer available 'Mari Mayans' is unmistakable.
